Welcome to the Home of Petroleum!

The Petroleum Museum was established in 1988 as an exhibition hall to introduce the history of oil mining, with a focus on the Kanazu oil field, and the relationship between oil and the people. At this museum, the culture of the oil fields and Niitsu is explained through tools and photographs of when oil-drilling was in operation, tools for using oil, and models and documents that show the oil field from its creation to the present day.
The Museum Audio Guide was created to convey the attractions of the Petroleum Museum to as many people as possible.

Introduction of the Petroleum Museum

The Petroleum Museum is located in the Kanazu district of Akiha Ward, Niigata City. From the museum, you can also see the beautiful autumn leaves in the massive“Senkeien”garden, which is a part of the Nakano Residence Art Museum, through the glass-sided exhibition lobby.
