About the Vaccination

This vaccine is available free of charge for anyone at least 6 months old who wishes to receive it.

About the 1st / 2nd Dose of the COVID-19 Vaccines

People who do not have a vaccine coupon (接種券/せっしゅけん) cannot get the vaccine.

When your vaccine coupon arrives in the mail, make sure to keep it safe. If you lose it, you will have to have another coupon issued.

  • Vaccination coupons were sent to everyone .
  • People who turn 5 years old this fiscal year will be sent their vaccination coupon within one week after their birthday.
  • People who turn 6 months old this fiscal month will be sent their vaccination coupon within one week after their birthday.
  • If you have not received your coupon when you should have, call or email the call center.

How to get Vaccinated(1st/2nd)

1.Get your vaccine coupon

- It will arrive by mail

2. Decide where to get your vaccine

Get vaccinated at a hospital or clinic in Niigata City

3. Make an appointment

- You cannot get a vaccine without an appointment.
Make a vaccination appointment with the hospital or clinic directly.

4. Get vaccinated

- Go to the location at the time of your appointment. Do not forget to bring the following 3 items.
1. Vaccination coupon (接種券/せっしゅけん)
2. A form of identification (one of the following)
Driver’s license, passport, residence card, health insurance card, special permanent resident certificate, My Number Card, etc.
3. Prevaccination Screening Questionnaire
For questionnaires in English or other languages, use the translation as reference as you fill out the Japanese form (in Japanese as much as possible).

  • Children under the age 16 must be accompanied by a guardian when getting vaccinated.
  • Try to have someone who speaks Japanese help you get your vaccine appointment and come with you to get vaccinated.

5. Get the 2nd dose of the vaccine

  • It is necessary to get the 2nd dose of the vaccine as soon as possible after the 1st dose.

Pfizer:3weeks (21 days) after the first dose
Moderna:4weeks (28 days) after the first dose

  • You do not need to schedule your 2nd dose. When you get your first dose, you will be told when your next appointment will be.
